Last year, on the very same night of the year, Littlest found comfort in the sofa before her very first day at school.
A year has passed by in a flicker.
Despite the promise of exhaustion, a few hours of silence after several weeks of school holidays felt luxurious. As the room became lighter, I went out to watch the dawn rise over the garden.
Very soon there were children to dress in school uniforms; children to fill up with toast before setting them off for a new year.
