Sunday

We spent the afternoon in church, but not at prayer.

We did admire the stained glass, however.

And made quite a noise on the organ.

How much fun was that?

  1. Looks lovely. Reminds me of several Georgian churches I used to work in from time to time in London. Where is it, out of interest? And - more to the point -can I unleash my own little organist onto it?

  4. Oh, I love the name on organ stops. When I was little my Mum used to play at church sometimes and I would go with her to practice and sit on the long seat next to her marvelling at all the names on the stops and the immense sound. I love organ music still.

  8. I see I'm not the only one coveting the Swell to Great stop!
So jealous that you really got to play it - something I've always wanted a go at but has always been strictly forbidden in chapels I have known.

  10. Just found this: http://www.organstops.org/

I'm also liking 'bird whistle' and 'guckguck'.

This was what I walked down, well, not the aisle but the stairs to:

  13. What fun! My grandmother continued to be a church organist until she was 90. I agree with The List Writer-it was always fun to go with her to the empty church on Saturday and listen to her practice.

  16. The church I got married in had a harmonium type organ...not exactly sure but it sometimes picked up police messages during mass. Honestly.
