The traveller returns

It is done. I have heard books, I have read books, I have introduced books. I have told a former Booker Prize judge what Badger thought of Vernon God Little - had anyone been in any doubt before now about how influential I am?

And now I come back from my journey with tablets of stone. Of stone! Are you ready?

Okay. You need to read this, and this, and this.

If you don't read this, then you are a fool, and if you don't want to read this, then I don't want anything else to do with you.

It's important to also consider this and this.

Don't say I never tell you anything.

  1. OOOOOOOO-K. Duly noted down in my Goodreads lists.

Now, oracle of all that is bookish, can you recommend something recent-ish, funny-ish, definitely not too taxing for our poor village book group which has recently been overdoing harrowing and depressing but ultimately very worthy titles? Becuase I'm close to suggesting Jeeves & Wooster for light relief and I think I'd be lynched.

  2. Wow. I'd better phone in sick tomorrow. (And Dottycookie - nothing wrong with a bit of Jeeves and Wooster now and again.)

  5. I'm sure that Booker Prize judge was THRILLED to get my opinion. Everyone is entitled to it, you know.

  6. It's great to have you to go and find these things out for us. I'm so out of touch I've only recently read the Time Traveller's Wife. These booky gems are duly bookmarked.

  7. Oh dear, but I've just this minute bought Susan Hill's 'Howard's End is on the Landing' in which I believe she is encouraging us to forsake new purchases and read all those mysterious titles we already have on our shelves. But when I've done that I will surely come back to your list.

  8. Ms. Coffee! Woohoo!! You've had fun!! You have no idea how thrilling it is for me to know that you passed on Badger's opinion.

I have read none of those books...yet. Welcome back!!

  9. I'm cranky because I can't find anything by Paul Magrs in my nearby big-box book emporium. What's up with that???
