  4. It's heartbreaking what's happening to the Arts in the regions and more rural areas. It's shortsighted, and erodes the place of the arts and the essential role they play in the economic and cultural life of these areas. They build communities, bring in tourism, aid quality of life, support good health, and provide a forum for people who would otherwise have no voice. So I now need to travel to Manchester to see new and contemporary works, have my mind and soul fed? Am I and my children too yokel to deserve good arts in Lancaster? Litfest, Storey gallery and Ludus are essential, vibrant and crucial organisations in the cultural life of this city.Promote community arts, support projects and new organisations, but don't take away the existing hard working exciting, artistic pumping heart of our small cities and towns.
