Things the world has forced me to wonder about this week

Are PVC trousers really a good choice in freezing weather? Do they contain heat or repel it? I don't want to try them. I just want to know.

Why on earth would you pay for fish to eat bits of your feet? I'd never given it a lot of thought before, but now I strongly believe I would actively avoid having my extremities nibbled by fish. And even if they are so good at removing dead skin, how do those taking the appointments know when it's a good time for the fish? What if they're not hungry? What if they turn their noses up at your toes because they're full of bits of someone else's feet?

Where can a toothbrush hide? At the beginning of October we got new toothbrushes, as we do every three months. Littlest thought hers was so fantastic that she immediately ran off and hid it, and no-one has seen it since. In proper Flylady style, I have been round every bit of the house since then, vacuuming behind furniture, emptying toyboxes and checking for abandoned applecores, etc, and the toothbrush is nowhere to be seen. There is nowhere else to look. Did it come alive?

  1. I wouldn't wear PVC trousers, but I would love that fish thing. Oh to have baby soft feet. Nibble nibble. And judging by our monster goldfish, there is never a time when a fishy cannot manage just a little morsel more.

Re: lost toothbrush - check in your salad spinner.

  3. I am fairly squicked out by the idea of a fish nibbling my flesh, whether said flesh is dead or alive.

I asked Mister Fixit who knows about this sort of stuff (from a technical rather than a fashion viewpoint, you understand) and he definitely thinks PVC would keep you warm in freezing weather as no air would penetrate and your body warmth couldn't escape.

If you find the toothbrush, can you tell me because we lost two really good Harry Potter wands and I swear I've looked EVERYWHERE for them.

  4. Isn't amazing where small people manage to hide things? we have found things in the wierdest of places, like a tissue box or in a wellie. there is no end to where small poeople think of as a safe place.

  5. Helen - very true. We found The Grandmother's car keys screwed up in a paper bag at the bottom of a wardrobe once.

  7. I get a little squeamish thinking about the fish, don't think I could do it. Good luck finding the toothbrush, I'm amazed at where things can hide and how long they can stay there.

  10. Too ticklish for fish, I think! And have you checked behind all your radiators? We frequently discover all sorts of things stuck halfway down behind them. Now I must go and delete all my unread Flylady emails and start afresh...

  11. I'm afraid I can't think about the fish thing. It makes me thing of the maggot thing and the leech thing. Oh Gawd, and Ali wants to do it! Oh I need a lie down.

  12. OMG! They had that fish thing in Selfridges when I was in there at the weekend! You could sit there and have your feet nibbled while everyone else was shopping around you! Eeek!!!

  13. Thank you, I don't think I want fish to nibble my feet.

About the rest, I don't know.

  14. Is it me or do those fish look like whitebait?

I don't really go for tiny fish whether they're eating me or I'm eating them. Ick.

As for the PVC, I bet you'd end up with chapped thighs. Just sayin'.

  15. I went to a spa in Malaysia a few years ago where Mr. CB and I had our feet nibbled by fish and it was THE BEST FUN!!! Firstly, you have to get used to the tickling, so you laugh and slap each other on the back a lot. Then it starts to feel relaxing, believe it or not, and then your feet come out smooth and soft. One of the craziest things I've ever done, and the best.

Come on commenters!!! What's with the squeamish feelings? If you ever get a chance go for it and enjoy.

The very best fun though? Well... that would be to go to one of these spas with Coffeelady sitting to my right and Eurolush sitting to my left.

    E xxxx

  17. When you find the toothbrush can you let me know where it was because, I've got loads of socks and hankerchief's that are probably in the same place.

  18. Jennifer - me neither. But I have seen people sitting in the shop with their feet in a tankful of fish, grinning. Freaks.

    kmkat - now that's a theory.

Jen - no. But I wonder if Eurolush's dog came across the Channel in the night.

Planetcoops - Oh, the emails! the emails! 1473 I have, at the last count.

Not sure you really want to find the tooth-brush after all that time but have you tried looking for something else...I find all sorts when I'm looking for something different :D
