  5. Last night we did a little pre-spring ritual at our house in which each person "planted" tiny wadded up pieces of paper (on which they had written hopes and goals for the coming year) into a pottery bowl of soil from our garden. One of my "seeds" read "I am ever more calm and peaceful."

One of Little Lad's read, "I hope my mama will become nicer."

    Sigh.

  8. my son wrote at school
" my Mum is cuddly like a Doovay "

Er was he implying that I'm a tad overweight ?

  9. Which mum of small children IS calm? Perhaps saintly ladies were, but then they went around floating above gateposts and seeing visions. These strange behaviours were probably as a result of keeping the stress in.

  10. At least she hasn't written a poem about nits.

And read it out to a visiting Poet.

  11. You have my sympathy. After all, the name of my own blog came from my then 4 year old son as he eyed me critically while I was getting dressed!

  12. Hey, at least he spelled it right, right???

  13. Excellent!

If it makes you feel any better my youngest asked over the weekend, "Mummy, WHY are you ALWAYS in a mood?"

Naturally, the response was delivered through clenched teeth.

  14. My Eldest's homework last night was 'produce a government poster to encourage the population to eat more fish'. It would not fit on the fridge.

  17. If you can get your hands on a copy of Please Don't Eat the Daisies by Jean Kerr, (1954) please do. I think you would recognise a kindred spirit.

  18. Very, very nice.

Our homeschooled six year old was telling everyone including random strangers that he didn't know how to spell. Yep. When I asked him why he kept saying that he replied, "'Cause I don't know ALL the words."

    Banner child for homeschooling.
